Aunt Helen (Betty’s Sister) wrote this wonderful and yet very simple and classy poem shortly before she died. I had visited her in Mississippi. We drove around a bit, talked and reflected on EOL(End of Life) issues that most experience.
Yes some die in accidents, some in suicides, unexpectedly in a surgery or illness but most make it to ‘die of old age’.
A POEM OF LIFE
A poem has beginning, a middle and an end.
It prepares us for what is to come.
Holds our interest, and lets us down gently.
Life has a beginning, a middle and an end.
Are we ever prepared for what is to come?
It surely holds our interest, and as for the end,
all we ask, is that we be let down… gently.
